Power Quality Compensation Strategy of MMC-UPQC Based on Passive Sliding Mode Control

While the unified power quality conditioner based on modular multilevel converter (MMC-UPQC) can be used for recovering of voltage and current in high grids, it is difficult to manage when grid imbalance large. In this paper, a passivity-based control (PBC) combined with sliding mode (SMC) proposed MMC-UPQC improve under unbalance systems. First, according structure MMC-UPQC, equivalent mathematical model presented unbalanced grids. Second, detection quantity separated without phase-locked loop using method positive negative sequence separation. Furthermore, passive (PSMC) strategy designed applied multi-level compensation system. The controller accuracy system parameters, response speed, effectiveness. Finally, MATLAB/Simulink simulation real time laboratory (RT-LAB) hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) experimental results show that PSMC compensate rapidly accurately, has strong robustness against parameter changes.
