چکیده

ABSTRACT We present a method for applying spatially resolved adiabatic and radiative loss processes to synthetic radio emission from hydrodynamic simulations of sources active galactic nuclei (AGNs). Lagrangian tracer particles, each representing an ensemble electrons, are injected into the position, grid pressure, time since last strong shock recorded. These quantities used track losses electron packet through source in manner similar Radio AGN Semi-analytic Environments formalism, which uses global properties calculate emissivity particle ex situ. Freedom choice observing parameters, including redshift, is provided post-processing nature this approach. apply framework jets different environments, asymmetric ones. find dependence on frequency good agreement with observations previous modelling work. There evolution spectra redshift due more prominent inverse-Compton at high redshift. denser environments have flatter spectral indices, suggesting that index asymmetry may be useful environment tracer. simulate intermediate Mach number disrupt before reaching tip lobe, these retain edge-brightened Fanaroff–Riley Type II morphology, most remaining near lobes all redshifts we study.

Modelling the spectral evolution of classical double radio sources

The spectral evolution of powerful double radio galaxies (FR II’s) is thought to be determined by the acceleration of electrons at the termination shock of the jet, their transport through the bright head region into the lobes and the production of the radio emission by synchrotron radiation in the lobes. Models presented to date incorporate some of these processes in prescribing the electron d...

Evolution of Giant Radio Sources

We present radio images of two giant quasars from the Molonglo/1Jy sample, and make a comparative study of giant radio sources selected from the literature with 3CR radio sources of smaller sizes to investigate the evolution of giant sources, and test their consistency with the unified scheme. The luminosity-size diagram shows that the giant sources are less luminous than smaller-sized sources,...

Spectral structure of X-shaped radio sources

Abstract. Analysis of Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope low frequency data for an X-shaped source, 3C 223.1 has revealed an unusual result as discussed earlier by Lal & Rao (2004). The radio morphologies of it at 240 and 610 MHz show a well-defined X-shaped structure with a pair of active jets along the north-south axis and a pair of wings along the east-west axis, that pass symmetrically through...

The Evolution of Diffuse Radio Sources in Galaxy Clusters

We investigate the evolution and number distribution of radio halos in galaxy clusters. Without re-acceleration or regeneration, the relativistic electrons responsible for the diffuse radio emission will lose their energy via inverse-Compton and synchrotron losses in a rather short time, and radio halos will have lifetimes ∼ 0.1 Gyr. Radio halos could last for ∼ Gyr if a significant level of re...

The spectral structure and energetics of powerful radio sources

Determining the energy spectrum of an electron population can give key insights into the underlying physics of a radio source; however, the lack of high resolution, broad-bandwidth observations has left many ambiguities in our understanding of radio galaxies. The improved capabilities of telescopes such as the JVLA and LOFAR mean that within the bandwidth of any given observation, a detailed sp...
