Pregeometry and euclidean quantum gravity

چکیده
Einstein's general relativity can emerge from pregeometry, with the metric composed of more fundamental fields. We formulate euclidean pregeometry as a SO(4) - Yang-Mills theory. In addition to gauge fields we include vector field in representation group. The and diffeomorphism invariant kinetic terms for these permit well-defined functional integral, contrast gravity Einstein-Hilbert action. propagators all are well behaved at short distances, without tachyonic or ghost modes. long distance behavior is governed by composite corresponds relativity. particular, graviton propagator free poles despite presence higher order momentum expansion inverse propagator. This seems be valid candidate quantum gravity, obstructions analytic continuation Minkowski signature metric.

Limit of Euclidean Quantum Gravity
Using the Ashtekar formulation, it is shown that the G N ewton → 0 limit of Euclidean or complexified general relativity is not a free field theory, but is a theory that describes a linearized self-dual connection propagating on an arbitrary anti-self-dual background. This theory is quantized in the loop representation and, as in the full theory, an infinite dimnensional space of exact solution...
متن کامل10 D Euclidean quantum gravity.
We investigate numerically 10-dimensional Euclidean quantum gravity in the framework of the dynamical triangulation approach. For the considered values of the gravitational coupling we observed two phases, the behavior of which is found to be similar to that of the crumpled and elongated phases of 3, 4 and 5 dimensional models.

One can try to define the theory of quantum gravity as the sum over geometries. In two dimensions the sum over Euclidean geometries can be performed constructively by the method of dynamical triangulations. One can define a proper-time propagator. This propagator can be used to calculate generalized Hartle-Hawking amplitudes and it can be used to understand the the fractal structure of quantum ...

In the one-loop approximation for Euclidean quantum gravity, the boundary conditions which are completely invariant under gauge transformations of metric perturbations involve both normal and tangential derivatives of the metric perturbations h 00 and h 0i , while the h ij perturbations and the whole ghost one-form are set to zero at the boundary. The corresponding one-loop divergency for pure ...
متن کاملCosmological Landscape and Euclidean Quantum Gravity
Quantum creation of the universe is described by the density matrix defined by the Euclidean path integral. This yields an ensemble of universes — a cosmological landscape — in a mixed quasi-thermal state which is shown to be dynamically more preferable than the pure quantum state of the Hartle-Hawking type. The latter is suppressed by the infinitely large positive action of its instanton, gene...
