Preliminary Experimental Study of Methane Adsorption Capacity in Shale After Brittle Deformation Under Uniaxial Compression

This paper presents a preliminary experimental study on methane adsorption capacity in shales before and after artificial deformation. The results are based uniaxial compression isothermal tests different shale samples from the Silurian Longmaxi Formation, Daozhen County, South China. Two sets of similar cylindrical were drilled each same bulk sample, one set was subjected to compressive simulation test then crushed as deformed other directly original undeformed sample. And we conducted comparative artificially shales. show that failure mode all displayed brittle organic matter content is main controlling factor capacity. However, also deformation have an effect capacity, with decreasing by about 4.26–8.48% for this study.
