Preliminary Study on Risk Identification and Assessment Framework for Fusion Radioactive Waste Management

چکیده
Fusion reactors are expected to be safer, more environmentally friendly, and have a lower nuclear proliferation risk, compared with other energy systems. However, it is widely recognized that large amount of radioactive materials will produced by fusion reactor. Therefore, important fully understand the overall radiation risk level wastes (radwaste) existing Studies on treatment radwaste been currently focused three ultimate options: clearance, recycling, disposal activation assessment from operation decommissioning reactors. in management radwaste, especially final disposal, was seldom studied. Based comparative analysis waste ITER fission (e.g., pressurized water reactor, PWR), this paper tries discuss how determine process premise current feasible industrial technology. On basis, framework for repository under normal degradation external events proposed.

The Korean government has strived to secure a disposal site for the safe management of radioactive waste since the early 1980s. The 249 th meeting of the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) held in September 1998 established the “National Radioactive Waste Management Policy”, which aims at completing the construction of a Low and Intermediate Level Radioactive Waste (LILW) disposal facility by 2008,...
متن کاملHistorical relationship between performance assessment for radioactive waste disposal and other types of risk assessment.
This article describes the evolution of the process for assessing the hazards of a geologic disposal system for radioactive waste and, similarly, nuclear power reactors, and the relationship of this process with other assessments of risk, particularly assessments of hazards from manufactured carcinogenic chemicals during use and disposal. This perspective reviews the common history of scientifi...
