Preparation and Application of Cross-linked Alginate Nanoparticles as Drug Carrier: A Review

Nanotechnology also called as nanotech is referring to the science, technology and engineering synthesis, manipulation investigation of materials devices at nanoscales. Nanoparticles (NPs) owns a special place in nanotechnology due their extreme-small size, multifunctionality, modifiable surface for wide range applications especially new drug delivery application stability, solubility, biocompatibility drugs releasing NPs are highly controllable. The variation nanomaterials with different physiochemical morphological properties will affect materials-living cells interaction determination route clearance potential toxic effects. Thus, it requires more cross-disciplinary research on designing developing based diagnosis treatment devastating diseases. Biopolymers-based have gained great attention system over past few decades compared other materials-based such liposomes, ceramics lipids well magnetic NPs. There extensive studies developments biopolymers-based tissue capable controlling release drugs, stabilizing labile molecules from degradation, site-specific targeting. Alginate an anionic copolymer that extracted algae. composed alginate become one most extensively researched biomedical engineering, wound dressing, protein/enzyme carrier its biodegradability, biocompatibility, non-toxicity mucoadhesive properties. Furthermore, by crosslinking cooperating polymers, mechanical strength, cell affinity profile can be modified improved. In this brief review paper, several aspects about using or crosslinked discussed, mainly focus structure immunogenicity effect mucoadhesion pH sensitivity nanoparticles developments.
