Prequalification Scheme of a Distribution System Operator for Supporting Wholesale Market Participation of a Distributed Energy Resource Aggregator

Increasing penetration of distributed renewable energy sources (DRESs) has resulted in the emergence resource aggregators (DERAs). A DERA participates transmission-level market operated by a transmission system operator (TSO), and DERA's resources are connected to jurisdiction distribution (DSO). Inspired structure Korean power industry, this study assumes minimal DSO that cannot directly dispatch its system. In study, we develop detailed procedure for prequalification wherein checks bids submitted TSO markets. The proposed enables secure reliability providing limited network information DERA. modifies bid until potential overvoltage overflow problems resolved, even worst case, including uncertainties. process is verified using IEEE 33-bus network.
