چکیده

Background:Multidrug resistant (MDR) Acinetobacter baumannii (A. baumannii) has been recognized as a serious causative agent of health care associated infections (HAIs) in different countries the world with increasing morbidity and mortality, therefore continuous monitoring evaluation settings are mandatory. We aimed to assess A. cause HAIs intensive units (ICUs) Zagazig University Hospitals demonstrate its antimicrobial resistance pattern. Methods: Different bacteriological specimens were collected from 71 patients for isolation baumannii, followed by invitro antibiotic susceptibility test. Results: Ten isolates recovered (13.5%), which eight showed multidrug pattern (80%). Prior use antibiotics was significant risk factor development (P< 0.05). Conclusion: Predominance MDR an important ICUs Hospitals. Inappropriate administration agents appears be most factor.

Antimicrobial Resistance Pattern of Acinetobacter baumannii Strains Isolated from Intensive Care Unit Patients

ABSTRACT             Background and Objectives: Acinetobacter baumannii is an opportunistic pathogen that affects different groups of people, especially intensive care unit (ICU) patients. The prevalence of infections caused by this bacterium is very high. Today, prevalence of infections caused by multidrug-resistant (MDR) and extreme-drug resistant (XDR) strains is increasing. This study aime...

Prevalence and antibiotic resistance of Acinetobacter baumannii among patients in postcardiac surgery intensive care units of Rajaei Hospital, Tehran

Background: Acinetobacter baumannii is an opportunistic, aerobic, nonfermentative, Gram-negative bacterium that can cause major nosocomial infections, especially in patients hospitalized in intensive care units (ICU). Recently, A. baumannii strains have been resistant to a variety of antibiotics. Thus, it was aimed to evaluate the prevalence of A. baumannii and their resistance to the antibioti...

Prevalence of Acinetobacter baumannii bacteremia in intensive care units of Ibn Rochd University Hospital, Casablanca

Background and Objectives Acinetobacter baumannii bacteremia are grave because of the multi-resistance of the organism to antibiotics. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of A. baumannii isolated from blood cultures and to describe their antibiotic resistance patterns. Materials and Methods A retrospective longitudinal study was conducted on blood cultures between 2010 and 2014 from ...

Molecular Investigation of Resistance to Disinfectants in Acinetobacter Baumannii Isolates Collected From Qazvin Hospitals, Iran (2017)

Background Acinetobacter baumannii is an important agent of nosocomial infections. There are several reports on the presence of disinfectants-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii developed by qacE and qacEΔ1 genes in medical centers.  Objective The current study aimed to assess the relevant antimicrobial susceptibility and to determine the frequency of genes encoding resistance to disinfectants i...

Increasing occurrence of multidrug-resistance in Acinetobacter baumannii isolates from four German University Hospitals, 2002-2006.

BACKGROUND Acinetobacter baumannii can cause severe infections, mainly in critically ill inpatients. Treatment is complicated by multidrug-resistance (MDR). In Germany, to date, little is known on the extent of MDR in A. baumannii isolated from inpatients in German hospitals and potential factors influencing the emergence of MDR. MATERIALS AND METHODS We retrospectively analysed the data of A...
