Prevalence of Subarachnoid Hemorrhage in Traumatic Brain Injury Patients: A Cross-Sectional Study

Background: One of the clinical manifestations and complications traumatic brain injury patients is intracranial hemorrhages, divided into primary secondary hemorrhages. Objectives: The present study was conducted to determine prevalence subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) in (TBI) patients. Methods: cross-sectional on all TBI with SAH for one year. Data collection tools include a demographic profile form researcher-made checklist. severity according Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score. patient’s history examinations were considered when admitting hospital. consciousness level measured at 6-to-24-hour intervals, computed tomography (CT) scan performed, any abnormal SAH-related findings symptoms recorded. If patient had other hemorrhages besides SAH, hematoma volume collected data entered analyzed by SPSS version 16 software. Results: A total 534 investigated, whom 84 (15.3%) hemorrhage. Out hemorrhage, 12 (2.2%) ten male 2 female. Also, occurred traffic accidents, falls, related reasons 7 (58.3%), 4 (33.3%), 1 (8.3%) patients, respectively. It also shown that (8.3%), (16.6%), 9 (75%) mild, moderate, severe consciousness, Regarding frequency diseases, it (16.6%) 10 (82.3%) diabetic non-diabetic, (33.3%) 8(66.6%) hypertensive non-hypertensive, (58.3%) 5 (41.6%) without skull fractures, respectively, (100%) them coagulation disorders.
