Probabilistic Modeling of Bus Rapid Transit Station Loading Area Selection for Bus Capacity Estimation

چکیده
The critical station of a bus rapid transit facility governs capacity. This study developed an improved model typical with three linear offline loading areas and passing lane, using probabilistic approach to the modeling area selection blockage buses. principal operational parameter was effective utilization: expected number buses that are clearing or dwelling. Bus arrival rate, theoretical capacity, degree saturation were determined for each area. controls operation. quantified excess time evaluate passenger quality service. It interior, upstream, total utilizations queuing. production elasticity as function dwell utilization (output) (input), which important understanding capacity because small values reflect where little improvement is possible. calibrated data collected during twenty-four 6-min episodes across range at busy Brisbane station. association between observed estimates probabilities significant. Existing deterministic methodologies assume all contribute homogeneously, however, results this highlighted need discretely. Elasticities calculated episode used qualify operation from very efficient congested. Congested must be considered case by case. new provided far richer appreciation through output parameters, including those mark congestion.

A Microscopic Simulation Model to Estimate Bus Rapid Transit Station Bus Capacity
The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) station is the interface between passengers and services. The station is crucial to line operation as it is typically the only location where buses can pass each other. Congestion may occur here when buses maneuvering into and out of the platform lane interfere with bus flow, or when a queue of buses forms upstream of the platform lane blocking the passing lane. Furt...
متن کاملBus Rapid Transit: An Overview
Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is growing in popularity throughout the world. The reasons for this phenomenon include its passenger and developer attractiveness, its high performance and quality, and its ability to be built quickly, incrementally, and economically. BRT also provides sufficient transport capacity to meet demands in many corridors, even in the largest metropolitan regions. In the United...

متن کاملThe Demand Performance of Bus Rapid Transit
This article uses a trip attribute approach to examine the relative passenger attractiveness of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems compared to other transit modes. It examines how passengers value trip attributes for on-street bus, BRT, and light rail and heavy rail systems in passenger behavior research. Empirical data is presented which suggests that passengers value trip attributes for BRT and ...
