Production, Optimization and Characterization of Polylactic Acid Microparticles Using Electrospray with Porous Structure

Polymeric microparticles with controlled morphologies and sizes are being studied by researchers in many applications, such as for drug release, healthcare cosmetics. Herein, spherical porous polymeric of different electrospray technique have been developed a viable alternative. In this work, polylactic acid (PLA) shape morphology were successfully produced via an single step. Molecular interactions between the components effect parameters, varying solvent compositions, flow rates voltage on microparticle morphology, investigated over particle formation. It was observed that type solvents used is most effective parameter terms size distribution. When optical microscopy SEM images examined, 3 wt.% PLA dichloromethane (DCM) solution concentration applied 18 kV rate 20 µL/min found to be optimum combination achieve desired micron-size particles. The average diameter particles achieved 3.01 ± 0.58 µm. DCM more suitable obtaining compared other used. Finally, obtained electrospraying PLA–DCM monodisperse. They might excellent potential carrier drugs targeted sides can biomedical applications.
