Programmable shunt valve affected by behind-the-ear hearing device: A case report and literature review

Background: It is known that interactions between programmable Ventriculoperitoneal Shunt (VPS) valves and electromagnetic hearing devices may change the valve settings. We reported a patient using VPS reviewed literature.
 Case Description: A 71-year-old man was implanted with diagnosis of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus. device (behind-the-ear) proposed because difficulties, but it suggested be discontinued did not help. However, used twice his current dementia, forgetting doctor’s recommendations. The setting has changed in these two different times this behind-the-ear used. Long-term follow-ups showed no settings except those situations.
 Conclusion: important to note patients are unique group patients. There enough studies showing relationship VPS. should kept mind magnetic field strength valves.
