Progressive collapse performance of shear strengthened RC frames by nano CFRP

Abstract To investigate the effect of nano carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer (nano CFRP) on retrofitting reinforced concrete (RC) structures, this article presented progressive collapse performance two half-scale four-bay RC frames including one control specimen S1 and S2 with CFRP beam ends. The was discussed by comparing crack patterns, failure mode, load–displacement curves, horizontal displacement, strains, rotational energy dissipation capacity. test results demonstrated that did not change ductile beam-hinge but improved load-bearing capacity ductility efficiently, postpone shear joint core region obviously. Due to insufficient development plastic hinges limited CFRP, failed enter catenary action, which revealed its own defects in anti-progressive collapse. It shown strategy using can substantially improve mechanical characteristics implement strong column-weak mode.
