چکیده

In type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2), the impaired functions of brain insulin system are associated with weakened transport through blood-brain barrier due to resistance. Insulin deficiency in can be corrected by intranasal administration (II), whose effect may enhanced C-peptide (ICP). this work, we study treating hyperinsulinemic and normoinsulinemic DM2 rats ICP (36 µg/rat/day), II (20 µg/rat/day) ICP+II on metabolic hormonal parameters. DM2, attenuated thyroid hormone restorative effects glucose, insulin, leptin sensitivity. was ineffective, its combination II. Thus, effective restoring parameters normoinsulinemic, but not hyperinsulinemic, DM2.

Elevated anthranilic acid plasma concentrations in type 1 but not type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Experimental data suggested involvement of tryptophan (Trp) - kynurenine (Kyn) pathway (TKP) in mechanisms of autoimmune, type 1 (T1D), and metabolic, type 2 (T2D), diabetes. However, clinical evaluations of TKP metabolites were limited to T2D. We assessed Trp, Kyn and TKP metabolites: anthranilic (AA), kynurenic (KYNA) and xanthurenic (XA) acids, in plasma samples of fifteen T1D, thirty T2D pa...

Oral antioxidant therapy improves endothelial function in Type 1 but not Type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Oxidative stress decreases the bioavailability of endothelium-derived nitric oxide in diabetic patients. We investigated whether impaired endothelium-dependent vasodilation (EDV) in diabetes can be improved by long-term administration of oral antioxidants. Forty-nine diabetic subjects [26 Type 1 (T1) and 23 Type 2 (T2)] and 45 matched healthy control subjects were randomized to receive oral vit...

The effect of metabolic and hormonal parameters on microalbuminuria in adolescents with type 1 diabetes mellitus.

INTRODUCTION The prevalence of microalbuminuria (MA), the most important early marker of incipient nephropathy in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), increases during puberty, the period of exaggerated physiological insulin resistance. OBJECTIVE To assess the prevalence of MA and the relationship between MA and metabolic risk factors and pubertal hormones in adolescents with T1DM. ...

Effect of interactions between C peptide levels and insulin treatment on clinical outcomes among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

BACKGROUND A recently halted clinical trial showed that intensive treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus was associated with increased mortality. Given the phenotypic heterogeneity of diabetes, therapy targeted at insulin status may maximize benefits and minimize harm. METHODS In this longitudinal cohort study, we followed 503 patients with type 2 diabetes who were free of cardiovascular disea...

Insulin, proinsulin, proinsulin:insulin ratio, and the risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus in women.

PURPOSE To assess the associations among baseline levels of fasting insulin and proinsulin, proinsulin:insulin ratio, and the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus in apparently healthy middle-aged women. METHODS In a nested case-control study involving a nationwide cohort of 27,628 participants from the Women's Health Study, 126 women with diabetes diagnosed during a 4-year follow-up perio...
