چکیده
Background: Controversy exists regarding the best technique for treating displaced transverse olecranon fractures with advocates three techniques: (1) intramedullary (IM) screw, (2) locking plate, and (3) tension band. Objectives: The aim of this study was to seek which method fixation fits according fracture type postoperative outcome. Two methods were used: K-wire band screw. Patients methods: A prospective randomized comparative included 20 patients or oblique olecranon, treated at Department Orthopedics, Sohag University Hospital. randomly divided into two groups equal number where odd numbers using AO wiring (Group I) those even by screw II). Results: Patients’ characteristics insignificantly different between both groups. range motion significantly higher in group II than I. Mayo Elbow Performance score (MEPS) 4 weeks, 3month 6 months compared I but an insignificant difference 2 weeks Visual analogue (VAS) lower 4weeks groups. Conclusion: It could be concluded that is superior non comminuted more motion, VAS, MEPS.

Clinical results of the re-fixation of a Chevron olecranon osteotomy using an intramedullary cancellous screw and suture tension band
Exposure of the distal humerus in case of an articular fracture is often performed through a Chevron osteotomy of the olecranon. Several options have been described for re-fixation of the Chevron osteotomy. Pull-out of the hard-wear is often seen as complication. In this study, an evaluation of the re-fixation of the Chevron osteotomy through a cancellous screw and suture tension band was perfo...
متن کاملA Prospective Randomised Control Trial for Comparison Between olecranon Lock Plate And Tension Band Wiring In Transverse olecranon Fractures
Introduction: Olecranon fractures are frequently encountered in the practice of orthopaedic surgery with a prevalence of 60% among patients with a fracture of the proximal ulna. Generally the treatment of choice for displaced olecranon fracture is open reduction and internal fixation. We report the result of a prospective Randomised Control Trial of Forty patients, who were treated either by Te...
متن کاملA comparative study in fixation methods of medial malleolus fractures between tension bands wiring and screw fixation
OBJECTIVES The aim of this study is to compare two methods of internal fixations of fractured medial malleolus which are simple screw fixation and tension band wiring. PATIENTS AND METHODS Over 5 years we grouped 20 patients with fractured medial malleolus into two groups of operative treatments, group1 treated by malleolar screw fixation and group2 by tension band wiring. The patients were w...
متن کاملTechnique Using Isoelastic Tension Band for Treatment of Olecranon Fractures.
The isoelastic ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene tension band may be considered an alternative to stainless steel wire for tension band fixation of olecranon fractures. In this article, we present our technique using this isoelastic tension band and describe the outcomes of 7 patients who underwent open reduction and internal fixation of closed, displaced olecranon fractures with minimal ...
متن کاملClinical Outcomes of Intramedullary and Extramedullary Fixation in Unstable Intertrochanteric Fractures: A Randomized Clinical Trial
Background: The best method for repairing intertrochanteric fractures is still controversial. The fixation methods includeextramedullary (EM) and intramedullary (IM). Studies that compare IM and EM fixations for unstable hip fractures arerare. In this study, our goal was to compare the efficacy of EM and IM fixation in treatment of unstable intertrochantericfractures.Met...
