Protein nitration: A connecting bridge between nitric oxide (NO) and plant stress
نویسندگان
چکیده
Nitric oxide (•NO) is a free radical which exerts myriad of functions in the physiology higher plants either under physiological and environmental stress conditions. NO, derived molecules designated as reactive nitrogen species (RNS), can mediate posttranslational modifications (PTMs) proteins affect their functionality. Among these NO/RNS-derived PTMs, it be highlighted S-nitrosation, metal nitrosylation nitration. This last one involves addition nitro group (-NO2) to some specific amino acids such tyrosine or tryptophan. An increase content protein nitration has been recognized suitable marker nitro-oxidative frequently associated with oxidative diverse mini-review aims provide comprehensive overview its significance plants.

The occurrence of protein tyrosine nitration under disease conditions is now firmly established and represents a shift from the signal transducing physiological actions of (.)NO to oxidative and potentially pathogenic pathways. Tyrosine nitration is mediated by reactive nitrogen species such as peroxynitrite anion (ONOO(-)) and nitrogen dioxide ((.)NO2), formed as secondary products of (.)NO me...

It is now known that there are several classes of haemoglobins in plants. A specialized class of haemoglobins, symbiotic haemoglobins, were discovered 62 years ago and are found only in nodules of plants capable of symbiotic nitrogen fixation. Plant haemoglobins, with properties distinct from symbiotic haemoglobins were discovered 18 years ago and are now believed to exist throughout the plant ...
متن کاملNitric oxide (NO) and phytohormones crosstalk during early plant development.
During the past two decades, nitric oxide (NO) has evolved from a mere gaseous free radical to become a new messenger in plant biology with an important role in a plethora of physiological processes. This molecule is involved in the regulation of plant growth and development, pathogen defence and abiotic stress responses, and in most cases this is achieved through its interaction with phytohorm...

High temperature is one of the biggest abiotic stress challenges for agriculture. While, Nitric oxide (NO) is gaining increasing attention from plant science community due to its involvement in resistance to various plant stress conditions, its implications on heat stress tolerance is still unclear. Several lines of evidence indicate NO as a key signaling molecule in mediating various plant res...
