چکیده
Prevalent in nature, protein oligomers play critical roles both physiologically and pathologically. The multimeric nature conformational transiency of greatly complicate a more detailed glimpse into the molecular structure as well function. In this minireview, are classified described on basis biological function, toxicity, application. We also define bottlenecks recent oligomer studies further review numerous frontier methods for engineering oligomers. Progress is being made many fronts wide variety applications, grafting highlighted promising robust method engineering. These advances collectively allow design stabilized that bring us one step closer to understanding their functions, range applications.

Tn5 transposition: a molecular tool for studying protein structure-function.
Transposon-based technologies are important genetic tools for global genome analysis and, as discussed in the present paper, in detailed studies of protein structure-function. Various different transposition systems can be used in these studies but this paper uses Tn5-related systems as a model. In particular, the following four different technologies are described in this paper: (i) using tran...
متن کاملGlucoamylase: structure/function relationships, and protein engineering.
Glucoamylases are inverting exo-acting starch hydrolases releasing beta-glucose from the non-reducing ends of starch and related substrates. The majority of glucoamylases are multidomain enzymes consisting of a catalytic domain connected to a starch-binding domain by an O-glycosylated linker region. Three-dimensional structures have been determined of free and inhibitor complexed glucoamylases ...
متن کاملChaperones as Suppressors of Protein Misfolded Oligomer Toxicity
Chaperones have long been recognized to play well defined functions such as to: (i) assist protein folding and promote formation and maintenance of multisubunit complexes; (ii) mediate protein degradation; (iii) inhibit protein aggregation; and (iv) promote disassembly of undesired aberrant protein aggregates. In addition to these well-established functions, it is increasingly clear that chaper...

متن کاملSortase-mediated protein ligation: a new method for protein engineering.
Sortase (SrtA), a transpeptidase from Staphylococcus aureus, catalyzes a cell-wall sorting reaction at an LPXTG motif by cleaving between threonine and glycine and subsequently joining the carboxyl group of threonine to an amino group of pentaglycine on the cell wall peptidoglycan. We have applied this transpeptidyl activity of sortase to in vitro protein ligation. We found that in the presence...
