Quantified assessment of deep brain stimulation on Parkinson’s patients with task fNIRS measurements and functional connectivity analysis: a pilot study

نویسندگان

چکیده

Abstract Background Deep brain stimulation (DBS) has proved effective for Parkinson’s disease (PD), but the identification of parameters relies on doctors’ subjective judgment patient behavior. Methods Five PD patients performed 10-meter walking tasks under different frequencies. During tests, a wearable functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) system was used to measure concentration change oxygenated hemoglobin (△ H b O 2 ) in prefrontal cortex, parietal lobe and occipital lobe. Brain connectivity global efficiency were calculated quantify activities. Results We discovered that both regional all varied with parameters, DBS pattern enabling highest optimal each patient, accordance clinical assessments treatment decision made by doctors. Conclusions Task fNIRS analysis promise quantified objective solution patient-specific optimization treatment. Trial registration Name: Accurate multidisciplinary cooperative diagnosis model disease. Registration number is ChiCTR1900022715. Date April 23, 2019.

assessment of deep word knowledge in elementary and advanced iranian efl learners: a comparison of selective and productive wat tasks

testing plays a vital role in any language teaching program. it allows teachers and stakeholders, including program administrators, parents, admissions officers and prospective employers to be assured that the learners are progressing according to an accepted standard (douglas, 2010). the problems currently facing language testers have both practical and theoretical implications but the first i...

Effects of minocycline on neurological outcomes in patients with acute traumatic brain injury: a pilot study

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a public health problem worldwide. Secondary damage of brain injury begins within a few minutes after the trauma and can last a long time. It can be reversible, unlike primary injury. Therefore, therapeutic intervention can be used. The aims of this study were to assess the effects of minocycline on neurological function and serum S100B protein and neuron-specifi...

Functional connectivity targeting for deep brain stimulation in essential tremor.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Deep brain stimulation of the thalamus has become a valuable treatment for medication-refractory essential tremor, but current targeting provides only a limited ability to account for individual anatomic variability. We examined whether functional connectivity measurements among the motor cortex, superior cerebellum, and thalamus would allow discrimination of precise targ...
