Quantitative measures of within-host viral genetic diversity

چکیده
The genetic diversity of virus populations within their hosts is known to influence disease progression, treatment outcome, drug resistance, cell tropism, and transmission risk, the study dynamic changes heterogeneity can provide insights into evolution viruses. Several measures quantify within-host capturing different aspects patterns in a sample or population are used, based on incidence, relative frequencies, pairwise distances, phylogenetic trees. Here, we review compare several these measures.

Genetic Diversity within Species
Based on our review of literature and survey of geneticists working on California taxa, we find genetic information lacking for most species in the Sierra Nevada. This situation is likely to remain in the future, with specific groups of taxa or occasional rare or high-interest species receiving specific study. Where we do have empirical information, we find few generalities emerging, except occ...
متن کاملphylogeography and genetic diversity of the lesser mouse- eared bat (myotis blythii) in iran
in current study, 63 samples of bat populations collected from differ regions were used for evaluating the geographic variations. twenty cranial and dental characters for traditional morphometric and landmarks method on the ventral, dorsal skull and mandible for geometry morphometric studies were used. statistical analyses of traditional morphometric and geometry morphometric data indicated low...
Viral Structure and Genetic Diversity
In the 25 years since the first reported cases of Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS), more than 70 million people have been infected with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). HIV is a retrovirus that is spread from mother to child, through blood contamination and through sex. Antiretroviral drugs administered to HIV infected pregnant women and the newborn child, together with exclusiv...
متن کاملWithin-host diversity of MRSA antimicrobial resistances
OBJECTIVES MRSA is a major antimicrobial resistance (AMR) pathogen. The reservoir of infecting isolates is colonization, which is the site of evolutionary selection. The aim was to identify if AMRs in colonizing MRSA populations diversified and potential mechanisms of resistance gene transfer in vivo. METHODS Nasal swabs from 38 MRSA carriers admitted to hospital were plated and 20 individual...
متن کاملA Generalized Entropy Measure of Within-Host Viral Diversity for Identifying Recent HIV-1 Infections
There is a need for incidence assays that accurately estimate HIV incidence based on cross-sectional specimens. Viral diversity-based assays have shown promises but are not particularly accurate. We hypothesize that certain viral genetic regions are more predictive of recent infection than others and aim to improve assay accuracy by using classification algorithms that focus on highly informati...
