Quantum Communication over Atmospheric Channels: A Framework for Optimizing Wavelength and Filtering

The wavelength dependence of the daytime performance free-space quantum channels is crucial to global-scale networking, but has been relatively unexplored, due a lack expertise in atmospheric physics among optics researchers. This study makes progress by simulating key distribution at different wavelengths, under spectral radiance and turbulence. Even face multiple unfavorable factors, it found that shorter wavelengths can nonetheless outperform longer ones. framework insights this are expected have strong impact, serve as stepping stones for analyzing more complex networking protocols.
