Properties of Black Hole Radiation from Tunnelling
We consider the space-time associated with the evaporation of a black hole by quantum mechanical tunnelling events. It is shown that the surface through which tunnelling occurs is distinct from the global event horizon, and that this has consequences for the radiation reaching future null infinity.
متن کاملWhy macroscopic quantum tunnelling in Josephson junctions differs from tunnelling of a quantum particle
We show that the macroscopic quantum tunnelling of a fluxon in a Josephson junction cannot be described, even qualitatively, as the tunnelling of a quantum particle in a potential U(φ), where the phase difference φ plays the role of particle position, if the length of the junction d exceeds a fluxon length. We calculate the probability per unit time of tunnelling (or escape rate), Γ, which has ...
متن کاملQuantum Geometry and Thermal Radiation from Black Holes
A quantum mechanical description of black hole states proposed recently within non-perturbative quantum gravity is used to study the emission and absorption spectra of quantum black holes. We assume that the probability distribution of states of the quantum black hole is given by the “area” canonical ensemble, in which the horizon area is used instead of energy, and use Fermi’s golden rule to f...
متن کاملThe non-thermal radiation - Cluster Merger Connection
There is compelling evidence that at least some clusters of galaxies are powerful sources of non-thermal radiation. In all cases where this radiation has been detected, a general trend is that high energy densities of cosmic rays and correspondingly low values of the average magnetic field are required in order to have a self-consistent picture of the multiwavelength observations. Mergers of cl...
متن کاملStudy of the two-step tunnelling from a quantum object
Recent studies of advanced materials have succeeded in obtaining a whole new class of composites such as nanometre sized particles [1] and structures [2] with significant potential for field emission (FE) applications. While bulk emissive materials, such as metals and in most cases semiconductors exhibit smooth upward current-voltage (I-V) characteristics, FE from nanostructured materials often...
