Quasiparticle interference observation of the topologically nontrivial drumhead surface state in ZrSiTe

چکیده

Drumhead surface states that link together loops of nodal lines arise in Dirac nodal-line semimetals as a consequence the topologically non-trivial band crossings. We used low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy and Fourier-transformed spectroscopy to investigate quasiparticle interference (QPI) properties ZrSiTe. Our results show two scattering signals across drumhead state resolving energy-momentum relationship through occupied unoccupied energy ranges it is predicted span. Observation this contrast previous studies on ZrSiS ZrSiSe, where QPI was dominated by trivial bulk bands states. Furthermore, we observe near $\mathbf{k} \rightarrow -\mathbf{k}$ process $\Gamma$-point, enabled between spin-split material.

Quasiparticle interference on the surface of the topological insulator Bi2Te3

The quasiparticle interference of the spectroscopic imaging scanning tunneling microscopy has been investigated for the surface states of the large gap topological insulator Bi2Te3 through the T-matrix formalism. Both the scalar-potential scattering and the spin-orbit scattering on the warped hexagonal isoenergy contour are considered. While backscatterings are forbidden by time-reversal symmet...

Superfluidity in topologically nontrivial flat bands.

Topological invariants built from the periodic Bloch functions characterize new phases of matter, such as topological insulators and topological superconductors. The most important topological invariant is the Chern number that explains the quantized conductance of the quantum Hall effect. Here we provide a general result for the superfluid weight Ds of a multiband superconductor that is applic...

Topologically Nontrivial Field Configurations in Noncommutative Geometry

In the framework of noncommutative geometry we describe spinor fields with nonvanishing winding number on a truncated (fuzzy) sphere. The corresponding field theory actions conserve all basic symmetries of the standard commutative version (space isometries and global chiral symmetry), but due to the noncommutativity of the space the fields are regularized and they contain only finite number of ...

Observation of a topologically non-trivial surface state in half-Heusler PtLuSb (001) thin films

The discovery of topological insulators, materials with bulk band gaps and protected cross-gap surface states in compounds such as Bi2Se3, has generated much interest in identifying topological surface states (TSSs) in other classes of materials. In particular, recent theoretical calculations suggest that TSSs may be found in half-Heusler ternary compounds. If experimentally realizable, this wo...

Probing the unconventional superconducting state of LiFeAs by quasiparticle interference.

A crucial step in revealing the nature of unconventional superconductivity is to investigate the symmetry of the superconducting order parameter. Scanning tunneling spectroscopy has proven a powerful technique to probe this symmetry by measuring the quasiparticle interference (QPI) which sensitively depends on the superconducting pairing mechanism. A particularly well-suited material to apply t...
