Qubits and Quantum Spaces
We consider the quantum computational process as viewed by an insider observer: this is equivalent to an isomorphism between the quantum computer and and a quantum space, namely the fuzzy sphere. The result is the formulation of a reversible quantum measurement scheme, with no hidden information.
متن کاملQuantum electrodynamics of qubits
A systematic description of a spin one-half system endowed with magnetic moment or any other two-level system qubit interacting with the quantized electromagnetic field is developed. This description exploits a close analogy between a two-level system and the Dirac electron that comes to light when the two-level system is described within the formalism of second quantization in terms of fermion...
متن کاملQuantum acoustics with superconducting qubits.
Mechanical objects have important practical applications in the fields of quantum information and metrology as quantum memories or transducers for measuring and connecting different types of quantum systems. The field of electromechanics is in pursuit of a robust and highly coherent device that couples motion to nonlinear quantum objects such as superconducting qubits. Here, we experimentally d...
متن کاملQuantum error correction beyond qubits
Quantum computation and communication rely on the ability to manipulate quantum states robustly and with high fidelity. To protect fragile quantum-superposition states from corruption through so-called decoherence noise, some form of error correction is needed. Therefore, the discovery of quantum error correction1,2 (QEC) was a key step to turn the field of quantum information from an academic ...
متن کاملInterfacing quantum-optical and solid-state qubits.
We present a generic model of coupling quantum-optical and solid-state qubits, and the corresponding transfer protocols. The example discussed is a trapped ion coupled to a charge qubit (e.g., Cooper pair box). To enhance the coupling and to achieve compatibility between the different experimental setups we introduce a superconducting cavity as the connecting element.
