Radiative Acceleration of Dense Circumstellar Material in Interacting Supernovae

چکیده

Early-time light curves/spectra of some hydrogen-rich supernovae (SNe) give firm evidence on the existence confined, dense circumstellar matter (CSM) surrounding dying massive stars. We numerically and analytically study radiative acceleration CSM in such systems, where radiation is mainly powered by interaction between SN ejecta CSM. find that unshocked ahead shock larger for compact CSM, with velocities reaching up to $\sim 10^3\ {\rm km\ s^{-1}}$ a order $0.1\ M_\odot$ confined within 10^{15}$ cm. show dependence density helps us explain diversity velocity inferred from early spectra Type II SNe. For explosions even denser can affect dissipation strong collisionless shocks formed after breakout, which would non-thermal emission expected particle acceleration.

Circumstellar Interaction Around Supernovae

Circumstellar interaction has been observed around all types of massive star supernovae, especially at radio and X-ray wavelengths. The interaction shells in Type Ib/c supernovae appear to be moving rapidly, although SN 1998bw remains the only case for which the evidence points to relativistic expansion. Type IIP supernovae have relatively low mass loss rates, consistent with moderate mass sing...

Unifying Type II Supernova Light Curves with Dense Circumstellar Material

A longstanding problem in the study of supernovae (SNe) has been the relationship between the Type IIP and Type IIL subclasses. Whether they come from distinct progenitors or they are from similar stars with some property that smoothly transitions from one class to another has been the subject of much debate. Here we show using one-dimensional radiation-hydrodynamic SN models that the multi-ban...

in dense circumstellar gas

We propose a simple model for the bolometric light curve of type Ia supernova exploding in a dense circumstellar (CS) envelope to describe the light curves of supernovae 2002ic and 1997cy. The modeling shows that at the radius ∼ 7×10 15 cm the density of CS envelopes around both supernovae is similar. The mass of the CS envelope around SN 1997cy is close to 5 M ⊙ , while the characteristic time...

Flash Spectroscopy: Emission Lines from the Ionized Circumstellar Material around < 10-day-old Type Ii Supernovae

Supernovae (SNe) embedded in dense circumstellar material (CSM) may show prominent emission lines in their early-time spectra (≤ 10 days after the explosion), owing to recombination of the CSM ionized by the shock-breakout flash. From such spectra (“flash spectroscopy”), we can measure various physical properties of the CSM, as well as the mass-loss rate of the progenitor during the year prior ...

Dimming supernovae without cosmic acceleration.

We present a simple model where photons propagating in extragalactic magnetic fields can oscillate into very light axions. The oscillations may convert some of the photons, departing a distant supernova, into axions, making the supernova appear dimmer and hence more distant than it really is. Averaging over different configurations of the magnetic field we find that the dimming saturates at abo...
