Rainfall-induced shallow landslides triggered after vegetation removed because of fires: G-XSLIP application to Gioiosa Marea (Sicily, Italy)

چکیده

The paper analyses how vegetation prevents the triggering of rainfall-induced shallow landslides by using G-XSLIP platform, which is based on G-SLIP model, i.e., SLIP model updated with parameters for root reinforcement and rain interception due to canopy. applied an area in Gioiosa Marea (Sicily, Italy), where 9 th September 2016 occurred, depositing state road SS 113. demonstrate that these phenomena related removal after summer fires some months before, decreases computed safety factors about half.

Distributed modelling of shallow landslides triggered by intense rainfall

Hazard assessment of shallow landslides represents an important aspect of land management in mountainous areas. Among all the methods proposed in the literature, physically based methods are the only ones that explicitly includes the dynamic factors that control landslide triggering (rainfall pattern, land-use). For this reason, they allow forecasting both the temporal and the spatial distribut...

A prototype system to forecast rainfall induced landslides in Italy

We are designing a system to forecast rainfall-induced landslides in Italy. The system is based on a set of rainfall thresholds for the possible initiation of landslides, and an ensemble of small scale landslide hazard and risk zonations. Rainfall thresholds include existing and new, national, regional and local empirical thresholds of the intensity-duration (ID) and normalized-ID types. The ne...

Application of a probabilistic model of rainfall-induced shallow landslides to complex hollows

Recently, D’Odorico and Fagherazzi (2003) proposed “A probabilistic model of rainfall-triggered shallow landslides in hollows” (Water Resour. Res., 39, 2003). Their model describes the long-term evolution of colluvial deposits through a probabilistic soil mass balance at a point. Further building blocks of the model are: an infinite-slope stability analysis; a steady-state kinematic wave model ...

A probabilistic model of rainfall-triggered shallow landslides in hollows: A long-term analysis

[1] The long-term temporal evolution of soil thickness in hollows depends on the processes controlling the rates of colluvium accumulation and erosion. Accumulation is due to soil creep and mass-wasting processes from the adjacent slopes, while erosion of colluvial deposits is mainly due to debris flow and landsliding. An analysis of the longterm evolution of colluvial deposits is developed thr...

Probabilistic forecasting of shallow, rainfall-triggered landslides using real-time numerical weather predictions

A project established at the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA) in New Zealand is aimed at developing a prototype of a real-time landslide forecasting system. The objective is to predict temporal changes in landslide probability for shallow, rainfalltriggered landslides, based on quantitative weather forecasts from numerical weather prediction models. Global weather for...
