Random walkers on a deformable medium

چکیده

We consider random walkers that deform the medium as they move, enabling a faster motion in regions which have been recently visited. This induces an effective attraction between mediated by medium, can be regarded space metric, giving rise to statistical mechanics toy model either for gravity, through deformable matter or adaptable geometry. In strong-deformability regime, we find diffusion is initially described porous equation, thus yielding subdiffusive behavior of localized cloud particles. Indeed, while average width single will sustain $\sigma\sim t^{1/2}$ growth, combined whole ensemble grow like t^{1/3}$ certain time regime. difference accounted strong correlations particles, explore indirectly fluctuations center mass and expected value experienced density, defined density measured particles themselves.

Multivalent Random Walkers - A Model for Deoxyribozyme Walkers

We propose a stochastic model for molecular transport at the nanoscale that describes the motion of two-dimensional molecular assemblies called multivalent random walkers (MVRWs). This walker model is an abstract description of the motion of multipedal molecular assemblies, called molecular spiders, which use deoxyribozyme legs to move over a surface covered with substrate DNA molecules, cleavi...

Grammar-Based Random Walkers in Semantic Networks

Semantic networks qualify the meaning of an edge relating any two vertices. Determining which vertices are most “central” in a semantic network is difficult because one relationship type may be deemed subjectively more important than another. For this reason, research into semantic network metrics has focused primarily on context-based rankings (i.e. user prescribed contexts). Moreover, many of...

Vicious Walkers and Random Contraction Matrices

The ensemble CUE(q) of truncated random unitary matrices is a deformation of the usual Circular Unitary Ensemble depending on a discrete non-negative parameter q. CUE(q) is an exactly solved model of random contraction matrices originally introduced in the context of scattering theory. In this article, we exhibit a connection between CUE(q) and Fisher’s randomturns vicious walker model from sta...

Inhomogeneous ensembles of correlated random walkers

Discrete time random walks, in which a step of random sign but constant length δx is performed after each time interval δt, are widely used models for stochastic processes. In the case of a correlated random walk, the next step has the same sign as the previous one with a probability q 6= 1 2 . We extend this model to an inhomogeneous ensemble of random walkers with a given distribution of pers...

Spatial patterns of competing random walkers

We review recent results obtained from simple individual-based models of biological competition in which birth and death rates of an organism depend on the presence of other competing organisms close to it. In addition the individuals perform random walks of different types (Gaussian diffusion and Lévy flights). We focus on how competition and random motions affect each other, from which spatia...
