Definitive Heat of Formation of Methylenimine, Ch 2 =nh, and of Methylenimmonium Ion, Ch 2 Nh
A long-standing controversy concerning the heat of formation of methylenimine has been addressed by means of the W2 (Weizmann-2) thermochemical approach. Our best calculated values, ∆H◦ f,298(CH2NH)=21.1±0.5 kcal/mol and ∆H◦ f,298(CH2NH + 2 )=179.4±0.5 kcal/mol, are in good agreement with the most recent measurements but carry a much smaller uncertainty. As a byproduct, we obtain the first-ever...
متن کاملChiral molecule formation in interstellar ice analogs: alpha-aminoethanol NH 2 CH(CH 3 )OH
Aims. Aminoalcohol molecules such as alpha-aminoethanol NH2CH(CH3)OH may be aminoacid precursors. We attempt to characterize and detect this kind of molecules which is important to establish a possible link between interstellar molecules and life as we know it on Earth. Methods. We use Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and mass spectrometry to study the formation of alphaaminoethan...
متن کاملCrystal structure of AI ( tBu ) 3 ( NH 2 CH 2 CH 2 Ph ) : A molecular " slinky "
The molecular structure of AI(tBu)3(NH2CH2CHzPh) is determined by the crystal packing of the phenyl rings and the pseudo spherical Al(tBu)3 units, and may be viewed as a layered structure consisting of double sheets of the phenyl rings and the Al(tBu)3 units. The A1-N-C-C linkage shows severe disorder as a result of its flexibility. The structure of Al(tBu)3 (NH2CH2CH2Ph) can be likened to a mo...
متن کامل6 Analysis of H – AHn and CH 3 – AHn bonds
Along the series of H–AHn bonds, with AHn = CH3, NH2, OH, and F, the bond dissociation energies show a steady increase as can be expected from the increasing difference in electronegativity along this series. However, in the same series for CH3– AHn the bond strength first decreases from CH3–CH3 to CH3–NH2 and only thereafter increases again along CH3–NH2, CH3–OH and CH3–F. To understand the or...
متن کامل7 Activation of H – AHn and CH 3 – AHn bonds
We have studied the palladium oxidative insertion reactions into a series of model bonds across the second period, that is, the H–AHn and CH3–AHn bonds, where AHn = CH3, NH2, OH, and F. We investigate what effect this series of increasingly polar bonds has on their intrinsic barriers upon activation by palladium. Our activation strain analyses show nicely how the observed trends are strongly in...
