Real-time GNSS precise point positioning with smartphones for vehicle navigation

Abstract The availability of raw Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) measurements from Android smart devices gives new possibilities for precise positioning solutions, e.g., Precise Point Positioning (PPP). However, the accuracy PPP with currently is a few meters due to poor quality GNSS in kinematic scenario and urban environments, particularly when are placed inside vehicles. To promote application land vehicle navigation devices, this contribution studies real-time smartphones. For data analysis performance validation, two vehicle-based tests were carried out using Huawei Mate30 smartphones P40 different installation modes: vehicle-roof mode mounted on top roof outside vehicle, dashboard stabilized vehicle. realize high positioning, we proposed smartphone method processing strategies adapted devices. results show that can achieve horizontal about 1–1.5 m terms root-mean-square better than 2.5 at 95th percentile experimental which real navigation.
