Rebuilding Stakeholder Confidence in Health-Relevant Big Data Applications: A Social Representations Perspective

Big data applications are at the epicentre of recent breakthroughs in digital health. However, controversies over privacy, security, ethics, accountability, and governance have tarnished stakeholder trust, leaving health-relevant big projects under threat, delayed, or abandoned. Taking notion as social construction, this work explores representations concept from perspective stakeholders Kenya’s health environment. Through analysing similarities differences way professionals information technology (IT) practitioners comprehend idea data, we draw strategic implications for restoring confidence initiatives. Respondents associated with a multiplicity concepts were conflicted how they represented data’s benefits challenges. On point, argue that peculiarities nuances diverse players view contribute to erosion trust need revamp engagement practices. Specifically, decision makers should complement generalised informational campaigns targeted, differentiated messages designed address responsibility, access, control, other issues relevant specialised but influential community.
