چکیده

Ubiquitous intramolecular aurophilic interactions in gold clusters have usually been assigned as the main determinants of their molecular geometry and various properties. By utilizing N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligands instead phosphine which exclusively used, we developed ligand-specific photophysical properties C-centered hexagold(I) ([email protected]6) clusters. This account describes recent development carbene-protected [email protected]6 First all, a strong C–H?Au interaction was found key structural feature these These are also present newly emerged NHC-gold nanoclusters, but negligible counterparts. Interestingly, use NHC produces with nearly identical metal kernel, luminescence changes significantly. In addition, simple extension ?-conjugated system NHCs from imidazolylidene to benzimidazolylidene is expected produce significant both absorption coefficient emission wavelength. results show promising potential character modulation clusters, may help rational design for constructing functional N-Heterocyclic were successfully utilized reconstitute Strong C(sp3)–H…Au minimum gold-hydrogen distance 2.566 Å resulting Significantly enhanced shifted observed.

New catalysts with unsymmetrical N-heterocyclic carbene ligands.

The importance of unsymmetrical N-heterocyclic carbenes (uNHCs) as ligands in metal-catalyzed reactions is undeniable. While uNHCs show similar properties as compared with symmetrical NHCs, dissymmetrization allows for further fine-tuning. The introduction of chelatization, hemilability, bifunctionality, shielding effects, and chirality-transfer influences the catalyst's stability, reactivity, ...

Methylpalladium complexes with pyrimidine-functionalized N-heterocyclic carbene ligands

A series of methylpalladium(II) complexes with pyrimidine-NHC ligands carrying different aryl- and alkyl substituents R ([((pym)^(NHC-R))Pd(II)(CH3)X] with X = Cl, CF3COO, CH3) has been prepared by transmetalation reactions from the corresponding silver complexes and chloro(methyl)(cyclooctadiene)palladium(II). The dimethyl(1-(2-pyrimidyl)-3-(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)imidazolin-2-ylidene)palladium...

Lanthanide/actinide differentiation with sterically encumbered N-heterocyclic carbene ligands.

A study is reported on the relative stability of trivalent bis(ligand) complexes of the form [M(L(R))(2)N''] for trivalent group 3, lanthanide and actinide cations, using the sterically demanding N-heterocyclic carbene ligand L(R) = [OCMe(2)CH(2){CNCH(2)CH(2)NR}] (R = (i)Pr L(P), Mes L(M), Dipp L(D); N'' = N(SiMe(3))(2)). For the small Y(III) cation (r(6-coord) = 1.040 A) and the smallest L(R),...

Accessible gold clusters using calix[4]arene N-heterocyclic carbene and phosphine ligands.

We investigate the synthesis of accessible calix[4]arene-bound gold clusters consisting of open "coordinatively unsaturated" active sites, using a comparative approach that relies on calix[4]arene ligands with various upper- and lower-rim substituents. In contrast with a reported Au(I)-tert-butyl-calixarene phosphine complex, which exhibits a single cone conformer in solution, the H upper-rim a...

Copper complexes of nitrogen-anchored tripodal N-heterocyclic carbene ligands.

Incorporation of a nitrogen functionality into a tripodal N-heterocyclic carbene ligand system affords the first N-anchored tetradentate tris-carbene ligands TIMEN(R) (R = Me (5a), t-Bu (5b), Bz (5c)). Treatment of the methyl derivatized [H(3)TIMEN(Me)](PF(6))(3) imidazolium salt (H(3)5a) with silver oxide yields the silver complex [(TIMEN(Me))(2)Ag(3)](PF(6))(3) (9), which, in a ligand transfe...
