Refining the Semantics of Epistemic Specifications

چکیده

Answer set programming (ASP) is an efficient problem-solving approach, which has been strongly supported both scientifically and technologically by several solvers, ongoing active research, implementations in many different fields. However, although researchers acknowledged long ago the necessity of epistemic operators language ASP for better introspective reasoning, this research venue did not attract much attention until recently. Moreover, existing extensions literature are widely approved either, due to fact that some propose unintended results even simple acyclic programs, new unexpected may possibly be found, more importantly, have reasonings critical programs. To end, Cabalar et al. recently identified structural properties programs formally support a possible semantics proposal such standardise their results. Nonetheless, soundness these still under debate, they accepted either community. Thus, it seems there time really understand paradigm, mature formalism, determine principles providing formal justification understandable models. In paper, we mainly focus on approaches, criteria satisfactory supposed satisfy, ways improve them. We also extend well-known propositions here-and-there logic (HT) into HT so as reveal real behaviour Finally, slightly novel ASP, can considered reflexive extension al.'s recent formalism called autoepistemic ASP.

New Semantics for Epistemic Specifications

This note presents a new version of the language of epistemic specifications. The semantics of the new language is arguably closer to the intuitive meaning of epistemic operators. It eliminates some unintended interpretations which exist under the old definition. The author hopes that the new language will be better suited for the design of intelligent agents capable of introspective reasoning ...

Symbolic Synthesis for Epistemic Specifications with Observational Semantics

The paper describes a framework for the synthesis of protocols for distributed and multi-agent systems from specifications that give a program structure that may include variables in place of conditional expressions, together with specifications in a temporal epistemic logic that constrain the values of these variables. The epistemic operators are interpreted with respect to an observational se...

Revisiting Epistemic Specifications

In 1991, Michael Gelfond introduced the language of epistemic specifications. The goal was to develop tools for modeling problems that require some form of meta-reasoning, that is, reasoning over multiple possible worlds. Despite their relevance to knowledge representation, epistemic specifications have received relatively little attention so far. In this paper, we revisit the formalism of epis...

Refining Interval Temporal Logic Specifications

Interval Temporal Logic (ITL) was designed as a tool for the specification and verification of systems. The development of an executable subset of ITL, namely Tempura, was an important step in the use of temporal logic as it enables the developer to check, debug and simulate the design. However, a design methodology is missing that transforms an abstract ITL specification to an executable (conc...

Authentication Primitives for Refining Protocol Specifications Authentication Primitives for Refining Protocol Specifications *

We propose a way to abstract from various specifications of authentication and to obtain idealized protocols “secure by construction”. This feature enables us to prove that a cryptographic protocol is the correct implementation of the corresponding abstract protocol. Our proposal relies on the combination of two authentication primitives, proposed by the authors in [20, 18] to a simplified vers...
