Reframing the Selection of Hydraulic Turbines Integrating Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Fuzzy VIKOR Multi-Criteria Methods

Before selecting a proper hydraulic turbine for power generation, conflicting factors frequently emerge from the wide range of available technology alternatives. The preliminary selection turbines (PSHT) has been usually carried out by overlooking and/or overshadowing downstream and upstream processes. development new conceptual framework that allows including more parameters into decision-making process at company levels is still required to avoid danger engaging in one-dimensional approach, which would not only result reduced simplistic vision choice but also overlook trade-offs between individual aspects possible unintended side-effects. This paper aims provide empirical evidence PSHT proposing well-thought-out based on mixed methodology approach (analytical hierarchy (AHP) fuzzy-VIKOR multi-criteria methods) focused small hydropower projects. A total 16 criteria are proposed divided 4 main categories—(i) performance, (ii) generator costs, (iii) other equipment (iv) civil costs. Findings reported here reveal specific alignment investors’ preferences experts’ judgments with real market practices. can be further considered support different head flow conditions.
