Relationships between carboxylate-based nutrient-acquisition strategies, phosphorus-nutritional status and rare earth element accumulation in plants

چکیده

We explored how phosphorus (P) availability influences accumulation of rare earth elements (REE) in plant species with different P-acquisition strategies beyond the commonly REE-phosphate precipitation. Two P-efficient carboxylate-releasing lupin (Lupinus albus, and L. cosentinii) four less carboxylate release under P-deficiency (Triticum aestivum, Brassica napus, Pisum sativum, Cicer arietinum), were cultivated a split-root system on two sand types. Phosphorus was controlled one root side by watering plants 100 μM P or 0 solutions. Carboxylate changes pH measured both sides. Concentrations nutrients, cadmium (Cd), aluminum (Al), light REE (LREE: La–Eu), heavy (HREE: Gd–Lu, including Y) roots shoots analyzed ICP-MS. P-deficient T. B. napus C. arietinum did not respond elevated release. These accumulated more when supply low higher concentrations proportional to declining growth. However, P. albus cosentinii low. Plants that strongly acidified rhizosphere released quantities dicarboxylates (with LREE/HREE ratios) than tricarboxylates. Our findings suggest depended acidification, concert amount composition carboxylates determining exclusion REE-carboxylate complexes. Leaf signatures may offer promising ionomics screening tool for into rhizosphere.

Phosphorus Relationships in Potato Plants

Maximum potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) tuber yields occur when an active plant canopy is maintained until normal plant maturation. Plaid nutrient concentrations and uptake rates play a major role in maintaining an active plant top. The objectives of this study were to relate the plant P concentrations to the P and dry matter balance between tuber and total plant growth needs. Growth analysis dat...

Leaf manganese accumulation and phosphorus-acquisition efficiency.

Plants that deploy a phosphorus (P)-mobilising strategy based on the release of carboxylates tend to have high leaf manganese concentrations ([Mn]). This occurs because the carboxylates mobilise not only soil inorganic and organic P, but also a range of micronutrients, including Mn. Concentrations of most other micronutrients increase to a small extent, but Mn accumulates to significant levels,...

Trace element and nutrient accumulation in sunflower plants two years after the Aznalcóllar mine spill.

The failure of a tailing pond dam at the Aznalcóllar pyrite mine (SW Spain) in April 1998 released a toxic spill affecting approximately 4300 ha along the Agrio and Guadiamar valleys. Two years later, we have studied yield and concentration of mineral nutrients and trace elements in sunflower plants grown in the spill-affected soil, and in an adjacent unaffected soil as comparison. The study ha...

Nutrient allocation strategies of woody plants: an approach from the scaling of nitrogen and phosphorus between twig stems and leaves

Allocation of limited nutrients, such as nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P), among plant organs reflects the influences of evolutionary and ecological processes on functional traits of plants, and thus is related to functional groups and environmental conditions. In this study, we tested this hypothesis by exploring the stoichiometric scaling of N and P concentrations between twig stems and leaves...
