Relative intensity noise and intrinsic properties of RF mounted interband cascade laser

چکیده

Interband cascade lasers are semiconductor emitting in the mid-infrared domain but relying on interband transitions, contrary to their intersubband counterparts, quantum lasers. Our experimental study of relative intensity noise a multi-mode laser at 4.1 ?m shows that room-temperature structure exhibits relaxation frequency GHz range. We demonstrate that, far above threshold current, increases with bias and our simulations good agreement efforts. Fitting resonances gives access several intrinsic parameters under such as differential gain, compression K-factor. This is clear step for understanding dynamics interplays structures, which means non-linear modulation bandwidth limitations

Modulation Response and Relative Intensity Noise Spectra in Quantum Cascade Lasers

Static properties, relatively intensity noise and intensity modulation response in quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) studied theoretically in this paper. The present rate equations model consists of three equations for the electrons density in the conduction band and one equation for photons density in cavity length. Two equations were derived to calculate the noise and modulation response. Calcula...

Intensity noise properties of quantum cascade lasers.

We present investigations of the the relative intensity noise (RIN) of a quantum cascade laser (QC) laser in continuous wave operation. We analyze the intensity noise properties in terms of the relative intensity noise (RIN). In contrast to conventional interband semiconductor diode lasers we obtain a different scaling behavior of RIN with increasing optical output power for QC lasers. From a s...

Formaldehyde sensor using interband cascade laser based quartz - enhanced

A novel continuous-wave mid-infrared distributed feedback interband cascade laser was utilized to detect and quantify formaldehyde (H 2 CO) using quartz-enhanced photoacoustic spectroscopy. The laser was operated at liquid-nitrogen temperatures and provided single-mode output powers of up to 12 mW at 3.53 µm (2832.5 cm −1). The noise equivalent (1σ) detection sensitivity of the sensor was measu...
