Reliability-based topology optimization of piezoelectric smart structures with voltage uncertainty

Currently, most of the piezoelectric structures are designed under deterministic conditions, where influence uncertain factors on output motion accuracy is ignored. In this work, a probabilistic reliability-based topology optimization method for structure proposed to deal with working voltage uncertainty. A nested double-loop algorithm minimizing total volume while satisfying reliability requirement displacement performance established, PEMAP-P (piezoelectric material penalization and polarization) model used parameterization stiffness matrix, coupling polarization direction. This strategy consists an inner loop analysis outer optimization. The index approach based probable point (MPP) realizing evaluation constraint in analysis. sensitivities respect random variables design detailed using adjoint variable method. Typical examples performed illustrate effectiveness RBTO comparison results different indexes, standard deviations voltage, spring stiffnesses, limits conducted, as well results.
