Renewable energy resources and multi-energy hybrid systems for urban buildings in Nordic climate

This research conducts a technical and economic feasibility study of multi-energy hybrid systems (MEHS) combining different renewables for northern climate city Finland to address issues replacing fossil energy by renewable sources (RES) achieve zero carbon emissions. The MEHS include geothermal, biomass solar energy. selected city-study site is the Olympic Training Center occupied heterogeneous buildings which presents good representative urban assessment supply demand. A generic integrated modeling framework grounded in combination novel forecasting models building demands, splitting space heating hot water use, coupled generation, time series electricity market developed investigate optimal configurations based on financial analysis. Innovative scenarios are developed. analysis results show that can flexibly meet demand be realised an innovative integration geothermal as well complementary Model uncertainty its impacts also considered discussed.
