Research Data Management needs assessment of Clemson University

Research data management (RDM) encompasses a wide range of activities that include documenting and managing during research project, as well sharing preserving after the project is completed.  Academic libraries can offer variety services support researchers life cycle which vary among institutions.   The faculty, staff, graduate students Clemson University were surveyed by Libraries about their needs in spring 2021.  survey was based on previous surveys from 2012 2016 to allow for comparison, but language updated additional questions added because field RDM has evolved.  Survey findings indicated are overall more likely back up share data, process cleaning preparing an obstacle.  Few reported including metadata when sharing, or consulting library help writing Data Management Plan (DMP).  Researchers want resources, offering effectively marketing those resources will enable both encourage best practices. Understanding researcher time-saving convenient training options makes following practices easier researchers.  Communicating how benefits integrating RDS into through partnerships crucial ensuring effective management.
