This paper applies a generalized exchange perspective to examine how and when reintegration in headquarters (HQ) facilitates repatriate knowledge transfer (RKT). Specifically, we theorize the preparatory stage for repatriation – expatriates are still abroad enhances HQ upon subsequently RKT via interpersonal career-related pathways.
