Reversing Tree Encroachment Increases Usable Space for Sage?Grouse during the Breeding Season

چکیده

In the Great Basin, coniferous trees are expanding their range at a rate higher than any other time during Holocene. Approximately 90% of expansion has occurred in ecosystems previously dominated by sagebrush (Artemisia spp.). Transitions from open, steppe to woodlands considered threat greater sage-grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus), obligate gallinaceous bird that occupies approximately 56% its pre-European settlement distribution. Using telemetry data set 2010–2017 breeding seasons for treatment area with conifer removal and an experimental control area, we assessed efficacy increasing usable space determined relative probability use landscape impacted expansion. Sage-grouse increasingly selected areas closer removals were 26% more likely each year after removal. most select where cover had been reduced ?10%. The proportion available locations having high increased 5% 31% between 2011 2017 lowest decreased 57% 21% over same period. Dynamics stochastic or stable did not demonstrate clear temporal trends area. Targeted is effective tool season restoring landscapes affected © 2021 Authors. New Technique for Activating Reproductive System during Non-Breeding Season in Ghezel Ewes

Ghezel sheep is one of the main breeds in the north-west of Iran which is reared for meat, milk and wool production. Improving reproduction of this breed will have a significant impact on the economic development of local farmers. Therefore, in the present study the effect of simultaneous use of estrus synchronization(controlled internal drug releasing (CIDR) and equine chorionic gonadotropin (...

The “Male Effect” Onestrous Synchronization and Reproductive Characteristics of Female Markhoz Goat during the Breeding Season

One hundred female Markhoz goats (42±5 kg) were used to investigate the ‘male effect’ on estrous synchronization and reproductive characteristics of female goat during the breeding season. This was carried out in three separate experiments. In the first experiment, forty female goats were used in 4 groups with different distance from the male goats (i.e. source of pheromone secretion); A1 (1 me...

Timing Ovulation in Ewes Treated with Ovsynch Different Times of PGF2 αInjection during the Breeding Season

This study was carried out at Sakha Animal Production Research Station, during the period from Oct., 2009 to Sept., 2010. Forty Rahmani ewes were divided into three treatment groups: the 1st, 2nd and 3rd treatment groups were intramuscularly injected (Day 0) with 1 mL GnRH analogue followed by an intramuscular injection with 0.7 mL PGF2α5 (G1), 6 (G2) or 7 (G3) days later. A second dose of 1 mL...

--The hunting behavior of and space use by radio-tagged Eastern Screech-Owls (Otus asio; three pairs, one unmated male, and four fledglings) were observed in central Kentucky from MarchJune 1999. Screech-owls perched at a mean height of 2.2 m. The mean giving up time was 340.2 sec, while the mean time until initiating an attack was 361.4 sec. Owls attacked prey located a mean distance of 2.27 m...
