چکیده

The problem of techno-economic approaches to evaluating energy transition pathways has been constantly reported in the literature. Existing research recognises critical role played by social aspects systems models. System dynamics (SD) pointed out among modelling techniques as a suitable tool evaluate interdisciplinary nature transitions. This paper explores how system-related SD models have incorporated through literature review. Models were assessed based on their geographical resolution, time horizon, methodological approach, and main themes: supply-demand, energy-economy-environment (3E), energy-transport, water-energy-food (WEF) nexus, consumer-centric socio-political dynamics. Social considered include behaviour lifestyle changes, acceptance, willingness participate, socio-economic measures, others. As expected, representation was not standard papers analysed. Socio-economic most commonly included supply-demand 3E Energy-transport WEF mainly changes travel consumption habits, respectively. last theme had more diverse approach that deserves further attention, especially for access justice issues. Other lines combination, enhanced participatory transparent processes during model development, use policy-aiding stakeholders’ information processes.

Identifying Complex Dynamics in Social Systems

It is widely recognized that segregation processes are often the result of complex nonlinear dynamics. Empirical analyses of complex dynamics are however rare, because there is a lack of appropriate empirical modeling techniques that are capable of capturing complex patterns and nonlinearities. At the same time, we know that many social phenomena display nonlinearities. In this article, we intr...

Social energy: a useful concept for analyzing complex social systems?

Energy, as used in physics, is a concept that specifies a capacity to do some work. It appears in various forms (internal energy, free energy etc.), describing characteristics of a system. Mathematical representations of energy occur in formal models which provide precise descriptions of the system under consideration. Given that in mathematical language operations can be performed with the sym...

Dynamics of competing ideas in complex social systems

Abstract. Individuals accepting an idea may intentionally or unintentionally impose influences in a certain neighborhood area, making other individuals within the area less likely or even impossible to accept other competing ideas. Depending on whether such influences strictly prohibit neighborhood individuals from accepting other ideas or not, we classify them into exclusive and non-exclusive ...

Energy and Uncertainty: Models and Algorithms for Complex Energy Systems

8 AI MAGAZINE The challenge of creating an efficient, sustainable energy system requires solving design and control problems in the presence of different sources of uncertainty. There is the familiar array of decisions: discrete actions, continuous controls, and vector-valued (and possibly integer) decisions. The tools for these problems are drawn from computer science, engineering, applied mat...
