Rheological behavior of gel polymer electrolytes: yield stress and viscoelasticity

In redox flow batteries (RFBs), semi-solid cells incorporate solid particles in the same medium than electrolyte form of slurry to increase energy efficiency. However, rheological properties fluid hosting need favor particle stability and pumping process within RFB. this study, materials used formulate a gelled polymer (GPE), which will be as suspending for dense zinc microparticles slurry-air RFB, were analyzed. It was found that when using polyacrylic acid attapulgite gelling agents together, yield stress behavior obtained. This satisfactory result accomplished even harsh alkaline conditions (pH > 14), representative battery operation chemical is threatened. Yield values obtained by fitting experimental data Herschel-Bulkley model, results compared those creep tests. Results indicate GPEs presented study are good candidates host
