Right atrial function in HFpEF in sinus rhythm vs. atrial fibrillation

چکیده

Abstract Aims We sought to study the prognostic impact of right atrial (RA) size and function in patients with heart failure preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) sinus rhythm (SR) vs. fibrillation (AF). Methods results Consecutive HFpEF were enrolled indexed RA volumes emptying fractions (RA-EF) assessed by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR). For SR during CMR feature tracking wall was performed (Figure 1). In addition, all underwent left catheterization, 6 min walk test, N-terminal prohormone brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) evaluation. prospectively followed used Cox regression models determine association a composite endpoint hospitalization cardiovascular death. A total 188 (71% female patients, 70±8 years old) included whom 96 (51%) SR. Eighty-five reached combined follow-up 72 (33–101) months. After multivariate cox analysis adjusted for age, NT-proBNP level, ventricular HF functional class, impaired strain 1A) (HR 0.959; 95% CI [0.924–0.996], P=0.024), conduit 0.944; [0.898–0.993], P=0.027) rate 1B) 0.990; [0.883–0.998], P=0.013) significantly associated adverse outcome (Table persistent AF, no parameter related after analysis. Sinus Rhythm and Chronic Atrial Fibrillation

Methods and Results: Atria versus ventricles have lower IK1, resulting in more depolarized resting membrane potential ( 7 mV). We used higher Ito,fast density in atrium, removed Ito,slow, and included an atrial-specific IKur. INCX and INaK densities were reduced in atrial versus ventricular myocytes according to experimental results. SERCA function was altered to reproduce human atrial myocyte ...

Atrial fibrillation. Reversion to normal sinus rhythm.

Auricular, or atrial fibrillation, is one of the most common cardiac arrhythmias. The mechanism of diagnosis will not be considered here, but rather the clinical criteria for attempted reversion to normal sinus rhythm. This report is concerned with the chronic type associated with severe organic heart or vascular disease, and in those persons previously considered bad risks. The treatment of at...

EDITORIAL COMMENT Restoring Sinus Rhythm in Atrial Fibrillation

Atrial fibrillation (AF), at the very least, is a fruitful subject for both the clinician and basic scientist. Since 1965, PubMed has listed 6,329 publications with “atrial fibrillation” in the title, with 1,235 such articles between January 2001 and December 2002. In light of the Atrial Fibrillation Follow-up Investigation of Rhythm Management (AFFIRM) parent study (1), which showed that in pa...

Late Sodium Current in Human Atrial Cardiomyocytes from Patients in Sinus Rhythm and Atrial Fibrillation

Slowly inactivating Na+ channels conducting "late" Na+ current (INa,late) contribute to ventricular arrhythmogenesis under pathological conditions. INa,late was also reported to play a role in chronic atrial fibrillation (AF). The objective of this study was to investigate INa,late in human right atrial cardiomyocytes as a putative drug target for treatment of AF. To activate Na+ channels, card...

Inter-Subject Variability in Human Atrial Action Potential in Sinus Rhythm versus Chronic Atrial Fibrillation

AIMS Human atrial electrophysiology exhibits high inter-subject variability in both sinus rhythm (SR) and chronic atrial fibrillation (cAF) patients. Variability is however rarely investigated in experimental and theoretical electrophysiological studies, thus hampering the understanding of its underlying causes but also its implications in explaining differences in the response to disease and t...
