Risk-Based Evaluation of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons in Vapor Intrusion Studies
This paper presents a quantitative method for the risk-based evaluation of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) in vapor intrusion investigations. Vapors from petroleum fuels are characterized by a complex mixture of aliphatic and, to a lesser extent, aromatic compounds. These compounds can be measured and described in terms of TPH carbon ranges. Toxicity factors published by USEPA and other part...

متن کاملPetroleum Hydrocarbons And Chlorinated Hydrocarbons Differ In Their Potential For Vapor Intrusion
Response issued draft vapor intrusion guidance (EPA, 2002), which specifically states that it is not recommended for Subtitle I underground storage tank (UST) sites. EPA's Office of Underground Storage Tanks (OUST) is thus currently developing guidance to address petroleum vapor intrusion (PVI) at UST sites. In September 2009, OUST assembled experts in the field of vapor intrusion and petroleum...

متن کاملRisk Assessment of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPHs) Fractions
Leakages of oil products derived from petroleum can affect the environment, even causing risks to human. In order to study all the substances that usually are found in a petroleum leakage, it becomes interesting to apply the study to the Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) fractions which have similar physico-chemical properties. The purpose of this paper is to perform a suitable risk specific s...
