Robot Autonomy vs. Human Autonomy: Social Robots, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the Nature of Autonomy

چکیده

Abstract Social robots are that can interact socially with humans. As social and the artificial intelligence (AI) powers them becomes more advanced, they will likely take on work roles. This has many important ethical implications. In this paper, we focus one of most central these, impacts have human autonomy. We argue that, due to their physical presence capacities, there is a strong potential for enhance autonomy as well several ways inhibit disrespect it. could improve by helping us achieve valuable ends, make authentic choices, our competencies. also harm instead leading fewer ends ourselves, less decrease competencies, vulnerable, Whether positive or negative overall depend design, regulation, use in future.

Artificial Intelligence Approaches To UCAV Autonomy

This paper covers a number of approaches that leverage Artificial Intelligence algorithms and techniques to aid Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV) autonomy. An analysis of current approaches to autonomous control is provided followed by an exploration of how these techniques can be extended and enriched with AI techniques including Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), Ensembling and Reinforceme...

Autonomy Measures for Robots

Robots are becoming increasingly autonomous. Yet, there are no commonly accepted terms and measures of how “autonomous” a robot is. An ad hoc working group has been formed to address these deficiencies, focusing on the unmanned vehicles domain. This group is defining terminology relevant to unmanned systems and is devising metrics for autonomy levels of these systems. Autonomy definitions and m...

Robots That Stimulate Autonomy

In healthcare, robots are increasingly being used to provide a high standard of care in the near future. When machines interact with humans, we need to ensure that these machines take into account patient autonomy. Autonomy can be defined as negative autonomy and positive autonomy. We present a moral reasoning system that takes into account this twofold approach of autonomy. In simulation exper...

Intelligence ≠ Autonomy ≠ Capability

In recent years, there has been a tendency to confuse the terms Intelligence, Autonomy, and Capability. In this paper we present the viewpoint that intelligence and capability are independent. These two factors describe an orthogonal design space that places upper bounds on the autonomy of the intelligent system. This design space for intelligent systems is illustrated by describing existing in...

Robot Autonomy for Surgery

Autonomous surgery involves having surgical tasks performed by a robot operating under its own will, with partial or no human involvement. There are several important advantages of automation in surgery, which include increasing precision of care due to sub-millimeter robot control, real-time utilization of biosignals for interventional care, improvements to surgical efficiency and execution, a...
