چکیده
We propose a class of Fisher-consistent robust estimators for mixture models. These are then used to build model-based clustering procedure. study in detail the case multivariate Gaussian mixtures and an algorithm, similar EM compute proposed clusters. An extensive Monte Carlo simulation shows that our proposal outperforms other non robust, state art, procedures. apply real data set show again it alternative

Exploring the number of groups in robust model-based clustering
Two key questions in Clustering problems are how to determine the number of groups properly and measure the strength of group-assignments. These questions are specially involved when the presence of certain fraction of outlying data is also expected. Any answer to these two key questions should depend on the assumed probabilisticmodel, the allowed group scatters and what we understand by noise....
متن کاملRobust Synchronization-Based Graph Clustering
Complex graph data now arises in various fields like social networks, protein-protein interaction networks, ecosystems, etc. To reveal the underlying patterns in graphs, an important task is to partition them into several meaningful clusters. The question is: how can we find the natural partitions of a complex graph which truly reflect the intrinsic patterns? In this paper, we propose RSGC, a n...
متن کاملRobust path-based spectral clustering
Spectral clustering and path-based clustering are two recently developed clustering approaches that have delivered impressive results in a number of challenging clustering tasks. However, they are not robust enough against noise and outliers in the data. In this paper, based on M-estimation from robust statistics, we develop a robust path-based spectral clustering method by defining a robust pa...
متن کاملOn Model-Based Clustering, Classification, and Discriminant Analysis
The use of mixture models for clustering and classification has burgeoned into an important subfield of multivariate analysis. These approaches have been around for a half-century or so, with significant activity in the area over the past decade. The primary focus of this paper is to review work in model-based clustering, classification, and discriminant analysis, with particular attenti...
متن کاملmortality forecasting based on lee-carter model
over the past decades a number of approaches have been applied for forecasting mortality. in 1992, a new method for long-run forecast of the level and age pattern of mortality was published by lee and carter. this method was welcomed by many authors so it was extended through a wider class of generalized, parametric and nonlinear model. this model represents one of the most influential recent d...
