چکیده

A full understanding of the growth and distribution tree roots is conducive to guiding precision irrigation, fertilization, other agricultural work during production. Detecting with a ground-penetrating radar repeatable detection method that does no harm earth surface roots. In this research, rapid accurate automatic was conducted on hyperbolic waveforms formed by root targets in B-scan images based YOLOv5s. Following this, regions interest containing target hyperbolas were generated. Three or more coordinate points hyperbola selected according three-point fixed circle (TPFC) locate system estimate diameter. The results show accuracy using YOLOv5s 96.7%, recall rate 86.6%, time single image only 13 ms. simulation image, TPFC used diameter through three different frequency antennas (500 MHz, 750 1000 MHz). result obtained when antenna average distance error positioning being 3.17 cm, slope R2 linear fitting between estimated actual one 1.029 0.987, respectively. Verified pre-buried test wilderness field test, both localization estimation our research proved gain good conform rules found experiments. Therefore, we believe can quickly accurately detect system, diameter, provide new perspective for non-destructive three-dimensional reconstruction system.

Experimental Evaluation of Several Key Factors Affecting Root Biomass Estimation by 1500 MHz Ground-Penetrating Radar

Accurate quantification of coarse roots without disturbance represents a gap in our understanding of belowground ecology. Ground penetrating radar (GPR) has shown significant promise for coarse root detection and measurement, however root orientation relative to scanning transect direction, the difficulty identifying dead root mass, and the effects of root shadowing are all key factors affectin...

Tree Root Automatic Recognition in Ground Penetrating Radar Profiles Based on Randomized Hough Transform

As a nondestructive geophysical tool, Ground penetrating radar (GPR) has been applied in tree root study in recent years. With increasing amounts of GPR data collected for roots, it is imperative to develop an efficient automatic recognition of roots in GPR images. However, few works have been completed on this topic because of the complexity in root recognition problem. Based on GPR datasets f...

Effect of elevated CO2 on coarse-root biomass in Florida scrub detected by ground-penetrating radar.

Growth and distribution of coarse roots in time and space represent a gap in our understanding of belowground ecology. Large roots may play a critical role in carbon sequestration belowground. Using ground-penetrating radar (GPR), we quantified coarse-root biomass from an open-top chamber experiment in a scrub-oak ecosystem at Kennedy Space Center, Florida, USA. GPR propagates electromagnetic w...
