Investigating Z : the Schema Calculus
In this paper we introduce and investigate an improved kernel logic ZC for the specii-cation language Z. Unlike the standard accounts 8] 4] 1] 3] this logic is consistent and is easily shown to be sound. We show how a complete schema calculus can be derived within this logic and in doing so we reveal a high degree of logical organisation within the language. Finally, our approach eschews all no...
متن کاملNew tsunami damage functions developed in the framework of SCHEMA project: application to European-Mediterranean coasts
In the framework of the European SCenarios for tsunami Hazard-induced Emergencies MAnagement (SCHEMA) project (www.schemaproject.org), we empirically developed new tsunami damage functions to be used for quantifying the potential tsunami damage to buildings along European-Mediterranean coasts. Since no sufficient post-tsunami observations exist in the Mediterranean areas, we based our work on d...

We consider local and global combinatorial constraints on embeddings of a simple closed curve in a rectangular array of unit squares in which the curve lies entirely within the rectangular array and passes through each unit square once. Geographical terminology is convenient to describe the embeddings. We study shortest segments of the embedded curve with no clockwise quarter turns (bays) and a...
متن کاملSchema Conflict: Functional Schema and Configurational Schema
In this paper, I discuss the cases of schema conflicts in the process of combination of primitive schemas. I claim that a functional schema overcomes a configurational schema in a case of the conflict of the two schemas. I also show that a more abstract functional schema wins over a less abstract or more concrete schema when two functional schemas conflict with each other.
