Scholarly Impact of Core Econometrics Journals: A Catalog and Citations-Based Ranking

With 23 core econometrics journals now in operation, this study fills a gap the literature by cataloguing editorial specifications of each journal, and, more importantly, assessing their impact based on citations to research published over 15-year period beginning 2001 and ending 2015. Our investigation reveals that about one-half all publish an online format only, while others both in-print. About one-fourth are affiliated with academic organization or society, same number either Elsevier, Springer Wiley. In terms our assessment, Econometrica, Journal Econometrics Applied sit atop index ranking, relatively-new Financial breaks into top five, other younger journals, such as Econometric Methods Econometrics, also make strong showing what is first productivity.
