Within the fields of regenerative medicine and tissue engineering, development tough hydrogel biomaterials is a challenging topic that has received much attention over past few years. Recently, method was developed to synthesize combinatorial poly(urethane-isocyanurate) (PUI)-type hydrogels by trimerization mixtures NCO-functionalized prepolymers. As this synthesis approach allows large degree freedom in terms polymer network design with high level control structure, resulting systems are ideally suited for studying structure–property relations systems. In work, we aim systematically investigate influence introducing hydrophobic component into PUI on mechanical properties hydrogels. Additionally, effect (the of) crystallinity investigated. For this, two series synthesized, based hydrophilic poly(ethylene glycol) prepolymer increasing amounts either crystallizable (poly(?-caprolactone)) or an amorphous (poly(propylene glycol)). It shown toughness hardly influenced content, whereas semi-crystalline strongly increases content. Also, latter further hydrogel.
