چکیده

Chorioamnionitis is a major risk factor for preterm birth and an independent postnatal morbidity which currently successful therapies are lacking. Emerging evidence indicates that the timing duration of intra-amniotic infections crucial determinants stage developmental injury at birth. Insight into dynamical changes organ after onset chorioamnionitis revealed novel therapeutic windows opportunity. Importantly, development implementation in clinical care impeded by lack diagnostic tools early (prenatal) detection surveillance infections. In current study we questioned whether infection could be accurately diagnosed specific volatile organic compound (VOC) profile exhaled breath pregnant sheep. For this purpose Texel ewes were inoculated intra-amniotically with Ureaplasma parvum serial collections performed 6 days. induced distinct VOC-signature expired sheep was significantly different between day 0 1 vs. 5 6. Based on only 15 discriminatory volatiles, animals correctly classified as either infected (day 6) or not 1) sensitivity 83% specificity 71% area under curve 0.93. Chemical identification these VOCs presence lipid peroxidation marker nonanal various hydrocarbons including n-undecane n-dodecane. These data indicate can detected VOC analyses might provide insight temporal dynamics its underlying pathways. particular, several volatiles associated enhanced oxidative stress undecane dodecane have been reported predictive biomarker spontaneous humans. Applying analysis will lead to appropriate high-risk pregnancies, thereby facilitating course action treatment preventative measures pre-maturity-associated morbidities.

Breath measurements as volatile organic compound biomarkers.

A brief review of the uses of breath analysis in studies of environmental exposure to volatile organic compounds (VOCs) is provided. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's large-scale Total Exposure Assessment Methodology Studies have measured concentrations of 32 target VOCs in the exhaled breath of about 800 residents of various U.S. cities. Since the previous 12-hr integrated personal ai...

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in exhaled breath of patients with breast cancer in a clinical setting.

BACKGROUND Carcinogenic products in the exhaled breath of cancer patients are of growing medical interest as they can serve as noninvasive disease markers. Breath analysis can be used as an alternative or complementary diagnostic tool in breast cancer patients who have a different pattern of chemical composition in their breath. This study aims to verify the existence of specific volatile organ...

Volatile organic compound detection using nanostructured copolymers.

Regioregular polythiophene-based conductive copolymers with highly crystalline nanostructures are shown to hold considerable promise as the active layer in volatile organic compound (VOC) chemresistor sensors. While the regioregular polythiophene polymer chain provides a charge conduction path, its chemical sensing selectivity and sensitivity can be altered either by incorporating a second poly...

wuthering heights and the concept of marality/a sociological study of the novel

to discuss my point, i have collected quite a number of articles, anthologies, and books about "wuthering heights" applying various ideas and theories to this fantastic story. hence, i have come to believe that gadamer and jauss are rightful when they claim that "the individaul human mind is the center and origin of all meaning," 3 that reading literature is a reader-oriented activity, that it ...

detection of volatile compounds of medicinal plants with some nano-sorbents using modified or new methodologies and investigation of antioxidant activity of their methanolic extracts

in this work, a novel and fast method for direct analysis of volatile compounds (davc) of medicinal plants has been developed by holding a filament from different parts of a plant in the gc injection port. the extraction and analysis of volatile components of a small amount of plant were carried out in one-step without any sample preparation. after optimization of temperature, extraction time a...
